As a CDA birth photographer, every birth I am a part of moves me in different ways. This one though pulled at my heart strings just a little more. The birth of Oakley may not have gone according to the birth plan. But God was watching over her and He is good all the time.
“For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” Psalm 100:5
When I arrived at the hospital, Lindsey was close to delivery. Her family was in the waiting room praying for her, her husband and little Oakley. The strength her family showed was inspiring. They were full of excitement and giddy for the news that Oakley had finally arrived.
When Oakley was born it was discovered that she had swallowed meconium. NICU staff rushed in to evaluate the situation. They decided Oakley would be better off in the NICU for observation. Ryan was able to escort Oakley to the NICU and stay with her. Meanwhile Lindsey and Ryan’s family were a little nervous as they waited outside the room. Lindsey called for her mom to come in and let her know what had happened with Oakley. Immediately, Jill stood over Lindsey and started praying. Tears were flowing.
Family came in to visit and support Lindsey as Ryan was in the NICU with their newborn daughter. Ryan sent Lindsey a picture of Oakley from the NICU and the family instantly fell in love with her.
After a 2 day stay in NICU, Oakley was able to go home. Ryan and Lindsey were shown so much support by their family during those couple of days. I was able to capture more moments for them right before they were able to go home.
