Early in the 2am hour my phone dinged with a unique text tone. Instantly I grabbed for it; the tone could only mean one thing. “Hi, I think we might be meeting our baby today. Just wanted to give you a heads up”. My heart started racing in excitement. I sent a text back saying to stay in contact and keep me posted. She assured me she would. After laying back down I was wide awake. Looking at the time I couldn’t decide to go back to sleep or get up knowing within hours I would be getting called again. Less than an hour later the same ding of my cell phone went off. This time the words read “We are heading to the hospital before too long. When we get in and settled I’ll update you”. After confirming with her to let me know ASAP I made sure my gear was put together and by the front door so when “the call” came I would be ready to walk out the door. Only about 45 mins later did my phone go off again. This time it read “On our way, but I’m thinking you should just come NOW”. I responded “ON MY WAY”. I flew out of bed, grabbed my keys, bags and was on the road within 3 mins. The drive to the hospital is only about 25 mins. After parking, taking the after hours entrance, elevator to L&D and checking in with the front desk….I walked into her room to the sight and sound of baby already on her chest. Only about 2ish hours from her first contraction did she have a baby in her arms. I think she was even more shocked than I was! My camera in hand I started shooting and documenting their story. A few hours later their 2 older boys were brought in to meet their new baby brother, and that is when tears started flowing. Such a beautiful family, complete with 3 boys.
