David and Christine choose to deliver their first child at a Spokane Birth Center with Spokane Midwives . According to their website, Midwifery care differs from modern obstetrics in many ways, but the most noticeable difference is in the time we spend together. Each appointment is at minimum 30 minutes face to face time. We will discuss your pregnancy, your plans, and the important topics surrounding this special time. Our hope is that we will build a relationship based on mutual respect that allows for a positive birth experience for you and your family.
Christine was in capable and tender hands throughout her labor. Her husband, David, did not leave her side. Together they worked as a team to bring their child earthside. I knew from the second I met them that their connection was a powerful one. To witness it in birth was a beautiful experience. Christine showed strength, determination and patience. Oh the patience! 40 weeks came and went. 41 weeks came and went. 42 weeks came and during her 42nd week, their son choose his birthday.
When I arrived at the birth center, Christine was laboring while her midwife, husband and doula surrounded her with support. Her husband held her gently as she labored in the birthing pool. Joy and tears filled the room as she birthed their first child. Soon after her parents came to visit. The power and love in the room was contagious. I adore this family and am so thankful for the opportunity to share their story through powerful images.
