15 months after giving birth to their 3rd child it was time for the Spokane home water-birth of their 4th child. Using Spokane River Midwives again to support her home-birth plan they welcomed their son after a relatively quick labor. Natalie called me late evening to say it was time. When I arrived she was laboring quietly in the dimly light comfort on her front room. It was April Fools Day and also Easter Sunday! Would baby hold off until after midnight to be an April 2nd baby?! That was the bet….
Natalie had her phone set up to record the birth from this perspective. PS — she is the best at plant care!
As the birth pool was slowly filing with water contractions were coming in waves.
Her husband stepped into his role of labor support providing relief giving squeezes.
He stayed by her side.
Once she knew delivery was close the 2 older kids were roused from their beds to be present in the moment. They were so excited to watch the birth of their sibling!
With only a few pushes, their 4th child emerges from the waters at 12:08 am, making an April 2nd arrival.
And baby is a BOY! Big brother is ecstatic!
Almost all the family present - baby Simon {15 months} was sleeping.
Was your dog present at your birth?
After getting out of the birth pool, Casey and Natalie ventured back to their bedroom for the birth exam with Spokane River Midwives.
After delayed cord clamping they had a umbilical cord burning ceremony. Have you ever seen one?

It was nice to see a mother having the rest of her family there to see the birth.
Congratulations. and many Blessing
